Claro is capable of processing Camera raw files.
Claro image analysis and enhancement is done in RGB. So RAW files need to be developed into RGB files. Claro uses Nikon and Canon SDK’s on Windows and Mac OS X platforms. This means that if Claro is installed on Windows or Mac OS X, Canon and Nikon RAW files will be converted using their manufacturers technology. In all other cases, Claro uses the UFRAW library, which in turn uses DCRAW. These are open source raw converters.
The RAW conversion is done with a more or less default conversion curves and options. Since Claro analysis kicks in only after conversion to RGB, we cannot choose RAW conversion options dynamically.
We support RAW files from a wide range of camera’s. We update the UFRAW, Canon and Nikon libraries regularly, so when they support new camera types, it will soon be supported by Claro as well.
