_______________________________________________________________________________________

Changes in release R10.0.0.24, 21 December 2015

_______________________________________________________________________________________

– Fix for ClaroAdmin appearing to freeze, but is waiting for user-input in another window
– Embedded HTTP server is upgraded to newer version
– Fix for ClaroAdmin not showing screen if you would like to start Claro if ClaroAdmin is started from the same system as Claro is installed on
– Fix for JVM crash with core dump (EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION)
– Claro logging shows more detailed system information at startup making it more easier for support to advise on concurrency and memory settings
– The previous version showed in ClaroAdmin the network logging from a MultiServer environment. It appears that this leads to problems because of too much access to this log (and delays because of the network access to the storage) causing unacceptable delays in the Claro Administration. The logging in ClaroAdmin shows now only the local log.
– In the advanced tab of Input in a routing channel an extra option has been added; “Use IPTC from jobfile and image”. In previous versions routing on IPTC used either the IPTC from the jobfile (and IPTC imported via XPath) or if it did not exist the IPTC from the image. With this option first the IPTC is taken from the jobfile (and XPath) and for IPTC fields which are not available the IPTC fields are used from the image itself
– ClaroAdmin did not close the file for locking the preferences. This could cause an error in the operating system “Too many open files”
– Improved Inspector failover in cluster environment to backup cluster
– Added basic Inspector functionality to the channel- and group-overview in ClaroAdmin
– Special option CropWithBox was not saved correctly
– Timeout for http connections increased

_______________________________________________________________________________________

Changes in release R10.0.0.23, 24 November 2015

_______________________________________________________________________________________

New functionality:

– Images in PDF get extra XMP information about Claro processing if selected in XMP options (output tab)
– Added the option to skip or process images in PDF based on XMP data per image
– Added in routing channel in IPTC a possibility to check if a field has content or not (without specifying what that content should be)
– Possibility to specify a backup cluster in ClaroServers.conf. Add the line: “backupserverlist=” (similar to “serverlist”) listing the servers that are part of the backup-cluster. The client applications will connect to one of the servers in “backupserverlist” if none of the servers in “serverlist” is available. Known limitations: Inspector will only connect to a server from “backupserverlist” if Inspector is already running. It will also not reconnect to the primary cluster automatically if that becomes available again. The setup (channel selection) is manual. ClaroPreferences.xml might be different in backup cluster. Limitations will be fixed in next update.
– In inspector.ini, an option can be added:  EnableUseNoneButtonJobFile=1 to enable the use none button in Inspector also when job files are used.

Fixes / changes:

– Amount of files in input folder and inspector are only shown if group/channel is not on standby (to prevent slowdown of Claro trying to access  network shares that may not be availabl
– The java version inside the ClaroAdmin.app on Mac is now updated to 1.8.0_65
– Improved locking of the preferences file in MultiServer
– Improved checking for changed preferences file in MultiServer
– If Multiserver configuration is used and the network log is enabled, then for the normal logging the network log is shown in the user-interface

_______________________________________________________________________________________

– Changes in License Overview of Claro Administration

More fixes for running the administration in the browser will come in a next release. One known not fixed problem is when running the administration from the browser that in some browsers File Chooser dialogs, like for importing and exporting flows, hide behind the browser window making it look like the application doesn’t react anymore.

Changes in release R9.5.11, 13 January 2015

_________________________________________________________________________________________

—————————————————————————————–

– If a file was locked, Claro waited until the file was available/unlocked again. This could

block the processing of other files. Changed that if the file is locked it will be processed

in another run.

– The None button in the Inspector tried to open the images without the need to do so.

This resulted in a blocked Inspector. Fixed.

– If conversion before Inspector was turned off and “do not apply CMYK profile if image from

Inspector is CMYK” was turned on and an output dotgain was specified and the original image

was Black&White and converted in Photoshop to CMYK, the resulting image was converted to a

RGB Image. Fixed.

flipped. The resulting PDF however was okay. Changed that also in Inspector the image is

shown flipped.

are copied from the original file (If “Update PDF” is deselected). If these images used

an Indexed ColorSpace with a lookup table for which the values are specified in PDFString

object in “Literal String values” and the values contained character values which are not

displayable, the values could have been changed in wrong values when writing the original

colorspace back to file. Fixed

_________________________________________________________________________________________

Changes in release R9.5.1, 31 January 2014

_________________________________________________________________________________________

—————————————————————————————–

Functional Changes

—————————————————————————————–

– B/W profile conversion : normally only ‘Perceptual’ rendering intent could be used for

B/W images, now also ‘RelativeColorimetric’ ,’RelativeColorimetric BPC’ or ‘AbsoluteColorimetric’

can be used (in the Output tab the same configuration as for colored images).

The condition ‘if out of gamut’ can not be used for B/W images : the intent will always

be applied if the checkbox ‘Use rendering intent’ is enabled.

PDF added XMP :

If XMP data should be added conform the output settings (Logging, Settings, or Processing),

for each processed image, the following field are added:

claro:Version

claro:Channel

claro:Processed=true

– Skip PDF images for XMP tags : Individual PDF images can now be skipped for processing.

The related xmp meta for the specific image can be compared with a fixed value and processing

will be skipped if the tag equals the condition (userinterface PDF tab). Example:

Skip Pdf images if XMP field  ‘Simple’ ‘claro’:’Processed’ ‘contains’ ‘true’

This means that early processed images will not be processed (if the PDF is processed for the

2nd time)

—————————————————————————————–

Bug fixes

—————————————————————————————–

– Linux installation : older linux versions may not work (wrong OpenCV references), solved now

– For some type of XMP info (with very large arrays), the parsing takes long and results

sometimes in outofmemory exception, arrays are limitted now to 5000 entries.

– If jobfile contains a tag for grayscale conversion based on a mix of colors and the conversion

should be done after inspector, the conversion did not happen, solved now

Both original and processed images are saved from Photoshop and send back to the

server inspector queue. For all users this image will be marked  in the ID column

from the queue window with a green symbol plus the user name (in the same way as a locked

image). Once the image is sent back, the image can be handled normally by any other user and,

if wished, submitted again to the inspector queue. The ‘sent back’ status can not be cleared.

password validation may fail while the password is correctly filled in.

Solved now : a dummy service is installed temporarily for testing the domainusername password

– Inspector, Setup Metadata : Inspector may hang on adding XMP, solved now

– Fix for PDF‘s containing Image Masks where the size of the mask is not the same as the

size of the image.

– Inspector, output profile conversion for final image may not be executed for original images

if conversion should be applied before inspector and output fileformat differs from input fileformat.

– JobClient workfolder can not be set on another folder as the default folder, changed now

– MultiServer / Inspector on MAC : Inspector is not switching to another server in case

of connection failure. Solved now.

– Inspector : buttons may freeze after start up.

inspector.policy file may cause this, this file is no longer needed and removed from

the installation.

– Funkinform integration : Extended crop for CMYK images may result in a black area, this

should be white, changed now

– Zipfiles with only images may cause an email failure message (in case ’email on failure’ option is set)

while images are processed normally, solution : no message is sent anymore if handling is normal.

– PSD/TIFF images with transparancy layers may result in images with black boundaries,

this should be white, solved now

– The advanced output option  “Execute external program” is not executed if this value is set

in a jobfile and if the Inspector is active, solved now

—————————————————————————————–

Changes

—————————————————————————————–

– Inspector support for Adobe Photoshop CC

– JobClient support for Adobe Indesign CC

– Multi Images in Inspector, handling:

If one of the images is already closed in PS on pressing the wrong use button, a choice dialog will appear

( as example the original image is already closed)

Original Image is not present is Photoshop

x Use Processed   x Use Server Original

If both images are closed, the dialog appears :

Images are not present is Photoshop

x Use Server Original   x Use Server Processed

– Inspector : If layer or mask is added in Photoshop while the original image

is JPEG and the file should be stored as JPEG, a dialog appears now:

“Document will be flattened, close it anyway?”

This will keep the possibility for the user to save a copy of the file manually, however the

flattened image will be processed anyway.

may appear in the output image. Solved now for default quality sampling.

The channel parameter ‘High quality downsample’ will now also be applied for upsampling.

The parameter is now called: ‘High quality resample’

—————————————————————————————–

Changes

– Channel status : If an input folder can not be accessed (because f.i. the network can

not be temporarily accessed), the channel is normally set automatically to standby and

– If a file is processed with the following settings, the file does not appear in the

output folder, but in the folder for unprocessed images :

. no assumed profile for CMYK

. convert to CMYK

. send to inspector and use processed file

This issue has been solved now: the file is processed and appears in the output folder

– Inspector : If a file is approved in Inspector and the destination folder is not present

and can not be created ( f.i. a network folder which is temporarily unreachable), the

approved file dissapears.

_________________________________________________________________________________________

—————————————————————————————-

New Features

—————————————————————————————–

—————————————————————————————–

Multi Server Usage (license option required!)

—————————————————————————————–

Multi Server usage now possible : based on network folders, the load is balanced automatically

over all available servers. If a Claro server fails, other servers take over complete functionality.

Inspector Clients will automatically (re)connect to an available Claro server.

For more information about technical details, read the doc ‘Manual_MultiServerConfiguration.pdf

(manual folder in installation folder)

—————————————————————————————–

Channel Grouping

—————————————————————————————–

– Channel Overview : groups can be added now with the ‘create group’ button.

A group may contain a configurable number of channels.

The channels of group can be made (in)visible in the channel overview by collapsing/expanding

the group bar. A group can be deleted by using the delete button on the related bar.

The delete action does not delete the related channels of the group.

The channels of a group can be exported to 1 file with the export button on the related bar.

An exported file can be imported again with the ‘import channel’ button on the lower tray bar.

—————————————————————————————–

Local Contrast Improvement

—————————————————————————————–

Now even better results, more details with real colors in shadow parts are visible

—————————————————————————————–

Inspector: Opening multiple images in Photoshop (license option required!)

—————————————————————————————–

This module allows to open multiple images from the Photoshop Inspector queue

simultaneously. This is only possible from the Inspector queue window. One can select

multiple images and open original and processed versions of the selected images. (or

only the processed, if that option is enabled in Inspector setup.) This can be achieved

by clicking a button or by selecting the appropriate option in a menu (that pops up as a

result of a right-mouse-click on one of the selected images in the queue) or by using a

keyboard shortcut.

It is also possible to work in steps: if one or more images from the queue are opened in

Photoshop, one can select one or more additional images in the queue and open them as

well.

After the images have been opened in Photoshop, the queue window of the Inspector

remains open. It is possible to select and de-select images in the queue, and use

buttons “Processed,” “Original,” “None” and “Cancel.” The function will be applied to

the selected images in the queue. That selection may contain images that are open in

Photoshop as well as images that are not open in Photoshop at that time. Images that

are open in Photoshop will be saved and closed. (Except for “Cancel:” images will only be

closed, and will NOT be removed from the queue.)

—————————————————————————————–

Other features

—————————————————————————————–

– Inspector : CS6 for Mac supported,

>>>>>>>    CS3 and earlier no longer supported  <<<<<<

– ClaroPreferences.xml is backuped now with the last 20 modifications (storage actions)

– Reading Exif information may cause an ‘out of memory’ crash.

This may happen if the image was re-saved by an application which modifies the byte order.

However this is a legal action, the Exif makernotes can be in a different order.

This is taken into account now.

– Soft cropped images saved by Inspector(within Photoshop) contain still the soft cropped

guides. These guides are now stripped from the final saved image.

the writing/reading to disk will limit the throughput.

– exporting TIFF/PSD with layers : some files became unreadable, solved now

– PSD/TIFF input options for selected layer, rules are changed:

If in the Input options the top layer is selected as processed layer,

then the first visible layer from the top will be taken.

If in the Input options the bottom layer is selected as processed layer,

then the first visible layer from the bottom will be taken.

Invisible groups will taken into account.

If the specified layer can not be read, the compatibility layer will be used.

Pdf files with strange characters in (path)name like ˆ caused reading error, solved now

– Processing specific JPEG images could lead to hangup, solved now

– Statistics.xml will be updated now if concurrent processing is active

Pdf Images were moved to the rejected folder due to a quality warning, in this case the

pdf could not be processed properly anymore. Solution: pdf images are always processed now.

– Error messages are reported twice in log file and message overview, solved now

– If images should be profiled with their original profile after inspector  and Claro is restarted

before the images are handled, the profile could not be used again, solved now

___________________________________________________________________________________________

Changes in release R4.4.3

___________________________________________________________________________________________

——————————————————————————————-

Bug fixes:

——————————————————————————————-

– Inspector choice for configuration is superfluous after inspector launch ( this is the case

is only 1 configuration is active). From now on, the inspector will directly started if 1

configuration is available.

– Inspector : If an image is locked by another workstation the user makes a doubleclick on it

and gets the warning. He clicks on ‘no’ and does not open the image. Now he makes again a

doubleclick on the same image and now the image opens immediately – no warning anymore.

Solved now: the user gets always the warning now and the (locked) image should not be opened at once.

– Inspector : image may get damaged when inspected simultaneously on different workstations,

This problem occured rarely, solved now.

– After Inspector : If B&W conversion should not be applied after Inspector and there is no

B&W profile specified in the configuration settings an ERROR in transforming colorspace may

occur after the ‘use original’ button has been pushed, solved now

– After inspector : If Claro is restarted while there are images in inspector queues, it may

occur that the profiles couldn’t embed anymore after inspector, solved now

– Clipping path : path names with 1 character lenght will throw a null pointer exception, solved

– file encoding for writing (internal xml files) is internally set to the system file encoding

– Linux : Oversharpening results compared to Windows/Mac, solved now

——————————————————————————————-

Other Changes:

——————————————————————————————-

– Queue is handled now on file date instead of alphabetically order, this solves false order

when multiple files are dropped at once in the input folder. The oldest date files are handled first.

– in the Inspector Setup overview, the channels are sorted alphabetically now.

– FTP configuration : the portnumber can be configured in this way :192.168.1.7:23

where 23 is the portnumber. If no portnumber is configured, like :192.168.1.7

default 21 is used as the portnumber.

– Mac OSX : Remote network not mounted on the same input folder as before.

Example : if you mount a network, this will be available as /Volumes/share

if Claro is started before this mount, it tries to create a non-existing folder.

The auto-mounter however can’t link to the same folder and creates /Volumes/share-1

At that moment a mismatch with the Claro input folder is created.

Solution : Claro will not create automatically non-existing folder in the /Volumes folder.

The customer has to create or mount this folder by them self.

Changes in release R4.4.2

___________________________________________________________________________________________

——————————————————————————————-

Bug fixes:

——————————————————————————————-

– Claro web interface on Mac Safari: changing tabs may cause browser hangups/ crashes, solved now.

– Inspector problem opening large files fixed

– Slow opening of the inspector queue, especially for large images, fixed.

– refresh on toggle for error log does not function, fixed.

– When copying large volumes files on Mac OSX, files are rejected during this action

(because ‘0’ bytes files are placed first in the queue before they get the actual size).

If ‘0’ bytes files are staying for 5 minutes in the queue, they are rejected now.

– 16bits images cause improper output images after conversion with LCMS, fixed.

——————————————————————————————-

Other Changes:

——————————————————————————————-

– customized option added for DPI dependent Sharpening (activation through special license)

——————————————————————————————-

New Features

——————————————————————————————-

Workflow: a new item is added in this tab, called :

‘Do not apply B&W output profile if image is B&W after Inspector’

If this item is active, no B&W conversion will be done after inspector on B&W images.

This option has only sense if the item ‘Apply output conversion before inspector’ is not

active for processed images.

– Tuning Performance

Performance can be tuned now by parallel processing images/pdf‘s.

All required values can be changed during installation.

After installation the file conf/JClaro.conf can be adapted:

# Concurrent image processes and max memory/process (in MB)

wrapper.java.additional.7=-Dcom.elpical.concurrent=1

wrapper.java.additional.8=-Dcom.elpical.concurrent_maxmemory=768

Default value of concurrent processes is ‘2’, which means two concurrent processes are active.

The concurrent behaviour tries to make optimum usage of the processors in the machine.

Be aware that JClaro.conf is overwritten after running the Claro installer.

If settings should be remained, copy them also to the JClaroUser.conf

Claro needs a restart after change.

– jobfiles: if both the jobfile and the image contains IPTC which should be displayed

in inspector, then this will be handled as follows:

get IPTC from jobfile

get IPTC from image

merge both IPTC data: if the recordno and datano a are the same the IPTC field from

the jobfile will overrule the IPTC field from the image.

– IPTC fields are supported in jobfiles for visualization in the Inspector: format example:

<iptc>

<tag4_19_1>any text to be visualized</tag4_19_1>

</iptc>

The tag id can be configured on multiple lines for each taG in preferencesinspector.ini

– The file <installation folder>preferencesinspector.ini can be used for

but if this file is missing, a file with default settings is generated during installation.

The following items can be configured (see the file content for examples):

– IPTC fields from images and jobfiles to be displayed in inspector

– configure whether the ‘Use none’ button should be disabled or not (both

– Softcare K4 jobfiles : Crop values are handled: newCrop = Crop * (image dpi)/72

This inconvenience has been solved now.

– Some kind of jobfiles, which contain invalid crop information, will cause a hangup situation.

This bug is solved now.

– In the routing channel configuration, checkboxes multiple rules within a condition can be

activated. However only the first active rule will be evaluated. This is now changed in:

Evaluation of all active rules must result true before the condition is valid (otherwise

the ‘else’ action will be carried out).

– If the output format is configured as ‘eps’ and the image is passed through the inspector,

an error is logged : ‘No decoder for eps format’,file ‘..eps’ copied to folder:..

It is highly recommended to set the maximum input size no more than 40 Mpixel.

– If the folder for ‘unprocessed images’ has not been configured, the default folder ‘bad’

in the installation folder will be used.

– TIFF images with embedded profiles are embedded with not the same profile after processing.

(when the ’embed profile’ option is ‘on’ and no output profile has been configured).

– When an image is passed via the inspector Claro does convert/embed the original profile

(when according settings this should be done).  Fixed now.

Changes in release R4.3.5

___________________________________________________________________________________________

——————————————————————————————-

New Features

——————————————————————————————-

– Optional in channel configuration(workflow tab):

if image comes out of inspector in cmyk and output profile is cmyk, output profile will

not be applied.

——————————————————————————————-

Bug fixes:

——————————————————————————————-

– cmyk jpeg images are compressed in bad quality, solved now

– If the original profile must be embedded, this could not be done.

then folowing error message is reported:

**ERROR in transforming colorspace:java.lang.Exception: icc profile specified does not exist

– If an image has no profile embedded and there’s no Exif info present about the colorspace,

the assumed profile from Claro settings is used.

When this original image is sent to the Inspector (and no output profile conversion is done yet),

and opened in Photoshop, a colorprofile is assigned by Photoshop.

This can be done by hand (if the option “Missing Profile ask when opening” is set), or automatically.

In the last case the working Photoshop profile is used.

Because the working profile must be set to the working Claro profile (normally adobeRGB1998)

for the processed images, this profile is also used for original images.

This may lead to unwanted colorconversions to the original image, when the assumed Claro

profile differs from the working Claro profile and the images are opened automatically.

In order to solve this problem, the original image always embeds the assumed profile for inspector,

when this is used.

——————————————————————————————-

Other Changes:

——————————————————————————————-

– In routing channels German language updated

– The ClaroPreferences.xml file will overrule the channels in the internal preferences store.

This means that channels which are not valid anymore, can be deleted from the .xml file

and are not configured anymore in Claro after startup.

– if the original file name is e.g “image7-2.jpg” and the option in output is set not to

overwrite the file name, Claro saves now “image7-2-1.jpg” instead of “image7-3.jpg”

__________________________________________________________________________________________

Changes in release R4.3.4

___________________________________________________________________________________________

——————————————————————————————-

New Features

When the jobfile must be routed to multiple channels, also multiple jobfiles/images are

copied.

——————————————————————————————-

Bug fixes:

——————————————————————————————-

Bug fixes:

——————————————————————————————-

– sending the file by FTP after inspector didn’t work, fixed now.

– FileBrowser in user interface skips floppy drive on windows machines. This caused problems because

windows would come up with a dialog to load a floppy.

It might have become invalid by an change of monitor resolution. If the position is invalid Inspector is put on the right

bottom part of the screen.

– The Inspector showed in the queue on some cmyk images strange colors.

Problem was caused by a wrong decoding of some specific cmyk images. Fixed.

– Inspector uses socket communication between the server and the client.

Standard it uses randomly an anonymous port number(number > 1024). For

firewalled installations this can be a problem because the administrator

would have to open all port-numbers higher than 1024. In these situations

the portnumber can be choosen by adding an environment variable to claro

with the name com.elpical.rmi.port (add to

jclaro.conf -Dcom.elpical.rmi.port=1313). Preferably set this number higher

than 1024.

– The Inspector queue only shows images from the channels selected in the setup.
